Cloth simulation comparison — Houdini sim vs Marvelous Designer vs in-engine approximation. Alembic playback with the custom shader applied. The shader blends vertex colour data baked by Houdini to drive subsurface scattering intensity and emissive fringe detail in real time.

Dress Simulation Pipeline

Garment simulations created in Marvelous Designer and SideFX Houdini, exported as Alembic caches and rendered in Unreal Engine 4.25 with the custom shader system. Multi-layer skirt dynamics with secondary motion preserved through the Alembic pipeline.

Client: The interest of the client in the research is to find out which is the most effective pipeline for cloth simulation, the different use cases, and applications of digital fashion in the marketing strategies of the target groups for this project.
